Campo delle Marogne and Campo Storico were recognized for medium-intensity extra virgin olive oils from the hills above Verona.
Verona, Italy — Azienda Agricola Cordioli Erminio & C has been awarded two Gold Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Campo delle Marogne and Campo Storico brands.
Campo delle Marogne, a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil produced from Frantoio, Moraiolo and Itrana olives, is distinguished by green, savory aromas that recall tomato leaf and artichoke, layered with herbaceous notes, green pepper and a subtle walnut nuance. Campo Storico, a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil produced from Grignano, Favarol and Pendolino olives, earned a Gold alongside Campo delle Marogne, extending a run of consistent recognition for the family’s oils.
Set in the hills above Verona, Azienda Agricola Cordioli Erminio & C grows varieties typical of the area, including Grignano and Favarol, while also cultivating Italian classics such as Frantoio, Itrana and Moraiolo. The husband-and-wife owners are involved in growing, harvesting, milling and blending, taking a hands-on approach that has emphasized quality over quantity since they began regularly entering their oils in competitions.
That attention to detail has helped the farm stand out in the northern Veneto, where olive trees can produce fewer fruits than in Italy’s central and southern regions and where harvest outcomes are heavily influenced by seasonal variability. In a region better known for wines, the couple steadily expanded and refined their olive growing, building a portfolio tied to distinct plots and cultivars.
Campo delle Marogne takes its name from the dry-stone walls, or marogne, that border terraced farmland in the area. The restoration of these walls in the farm’s groves helped stabilize the terraces and protect the soil from erosion caused by rainwater, while preserving a historical feature of the local landscape. According to the producer, Campo delle Marogne covers just over one hectare and includes around 200 olive trees, some more than 150 years old.
The couple’s commitment to careful orchard management extends beyond the stonework. Azienda Agricola Cordioli Erminio & C has described a day-by-day approach to decision-making in difficult seasons, including emergency irrigation when needed, and long-term collaboration with an agronomist who monitors quality throughout production. After extraction, the extra virgin olive oils are stored in argon-filled steel tanks, with bottling done in small lots as needed to preserve freshness.
The 2026 results continue a strong NYIOOC record for the producer. Across its full competition history, Azienda Agricola Cordioli Erminio & C has earned six Gold Awards and no Silver Awards, including two Golds in 2025, one Gold in 2023, one Gold in 2019 and two Golds in 2026.
